KOTA KINABALU: It takes effort to judge 50 beautiful Unduk Ngadau parading the 50 beautiful dresses made by Sabah's own local designers.
Most of the attires worn by the contestants were black dresses, with a few exceptions. For example, Kinabatangan UN (Unduk Ngadau), Chellyana Tensu, wore a two piece attire in orange, red and perhaps a hint of black, that really looked exquisite. Many of the dresses on parade indicated the designers did 'make an effort' to create something that possess that x-factor. Some however are just so-so.
Out of the 50 designs, Kota Marudu's UN, Calby Floresa Dolinting' attire was selected as the best and she received RM500 cash prize, while the designer of her dress goes home with RM2,000 richer. Aside from her cash win, Calby also received a crown, a trophy and a flower bouquet.
At the 2023 State Level Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan event, the Sodop Unduk Ngadau, held at Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), Nabawan UN, Abby Suehaiveey was crowned 'Miss Bold Pepsi' which came with a RM1,000 prize money, a sash, a crown, a trophy and a flower bouquet.
Pitas UN, Efa Anniesyah Kambang, was crowned Miss Popular GoGo OPPO and received RM1,000 cash, a trophy, and flower bouquet.
Inanam's UN, Steffi Olga Aiid's video presentation was selected as the best among the 50 entries. She won the Miss Culture, Agrotourism, and Nature @ Miss CAN title and brings home RM2,000 cash, a trophy, sash, crown and of course, a flower bouquet.
The Tati Tosuau (Miss Friendly) and Tati Toonong (Miss Serene/calm/composed? No perfect translation was given by the organiser at this time of writing) titles went to Likas UN, Devegracy Justin. She received RM1,000 cash as Miss Friendly, and RM2,000 cash for Tati Toonong. Of course, she also received a crown, a trophy, sash, and a flower bouquet for each of the title.
This year's Miss Natural Beauty (Tati Topiodo) went to Karambunai's UN, Adelyn A. Tillon. She gets RM1,000 cash prize, a crown, a sash, a trophy and a bouquet of flowers.
Among the sponsors for the prizes are PEPSI, OPPO, Jetama Sdn Bhd, JKhan, Petronas and others.
