TUARAN, 18 November 2022: Former Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin regarded Tuaran Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate Datuk Joniston Bangkuai as among the new generation of leaders.
Speaking in a ceramah at Kampung Tinuhan Tenghilan, the president of the United Sabah National Organisation (USNO) said he did not doubt Joniston’s capabilities based on his extensive experience in leadership roles.
“I have known Joniston when he was a journalist who frequently asked difficult questions during press conferences. I can attest that he was a tough interviewee.
“Even as a journalist, he displayed leadership potential, which led to his rise to the position of assemblyman (for Kiulu) and his present role as the information chief of both Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS),” said Pandikar.
He even forecasted that Joniston will play an even more significant leadership role for the party, the state, and the country.
“My observation is based on my many years of political experience. He is a capable leader, and we need someone new to represent Sabah in Dewan Rakyat, like Joniston,” he said, urging voters to support Joniston for the Tuaran parliamentary seat.
Meanwhile, Joniston expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to stand alongside a leader of Pandikar’s calibre.
He said Pandikar has been a strong advocate for the people of Sabah, just like the other leaders of GRS’s component parties.
“The combination of proactive leaders has yielded positive results in the development of Sabah and every negotiation with the Federal Government on matters about the state’s interests.
“We are on the right track, and we need to strengthen GRS and ensure that all candidates receive a majority vote so that we can represent the voice of the people,” he said.
